YouTube TV is a subscription-based streaming service launched in 2017. It allowed users to access live TV and watch on-demand shows from several networks. In the beginning, the subscription cost was $34.99 per month which was increased later on. In 2022, Youtube TV reached 5 million subscribers.

In a recent announcement, YouTube declared that it is escalating the TV subscription price. It added that this hike is because of rising content prices. It states that the cost of content has increased due to the high competition in the streaming industry. So, to provide customers with quality services without any interruption, it has to increase the subscription cost by about 12%. The subscription price changed from $64.99 to $72.99. The new subscription price implemented from March 16 for newcomers while the existing users will observe this hike from April 18. 

The company tries to justify this hike in subscription hike. It states that the rising content prices and its commitment to providing its users with high-quality content pushed it to take this hard decision. As it is continuously improving its services and meeting the required obligations, that’s why the subscription price increased.  

This is the first price hike in the last three years. The company further tweets, "We are committed to offering a premium way for you to stream TV, but understand this new price may not work for you. We do hope YouTube TV continues to be your service of choice, but we want to give you the flexibility to cancel at any time," 

Users are definitely not happy with the decision but the service provider’s recent tweet indicates that it is not going to revisit this decision and every user has to pay the stated price if they want to get uninterrupted service.
